#GoodMorningLA! - Marina del Rey Sunrise Photowalk

Date: March 30, 2017
Time: 6:30am
Cost: Free
Location: El Torito, Marina del Rey

OK, let's see how many early birds we have in this group! I'm starting a new series of events called #GoodMorningLA! We'll meet at different locations around the city about 15 minutes before sunrise and do a 1 hour photowalk. The only rule is that all attendees must post at least 1 photo on Instagram with the hashtag #GoodMorningLA and tag @GoodMorning_LA for your chance to be featured!  Let's help this town See itself! If you mention our meetup group or @artofseeingphotography, I wont complain either :-). Obviously, if you do some shooting with your phone, it will facilitate the posting but it's up to you what camera(s) you use.  Meditation and yoga are great but I think this is a more fun way to start your day with a little creativity and in-the-momentness. If you have a real job and you need to leave a little early, that's no problem either.

Our first event will be the Fisherman's Village/Ballona Creek Bike Path area of Marina del Rey. Point your GPS towards El Torito in MdR.  We'll meet in front of the restaurant (parking is free at that time, I think) and walk along the waterside of Fisherman's Village. There are usually a few seals hanging out in the area as well as the boats and early workers. Then we'll head over to the bike path which runs right in front of the UCLA Aquatics center and check out the activity of the rowers, bikers and runners. Depending on how we're doing for time we might even make it to the beach at Playa del Rey. There's no telling what you will See. There are some of my images from one foggy morning in this exact area in this recent blog post.

I have a few more locations in mind for future events in this series but I'm fairly new to LA myself, so I really need your help. Do you live in a cool neighborhood? Is there a great park we should go to? Please share your ideas for other locations in the comments below. the hardest thing about setting up these events is getting all the details about exactly where to meet, parking and a reasonable route to cover in an hour so if you can include some of those details, it will be a big help!

Thanks and I hope to see you out there!
