Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Runyon Canyon
You weren’t going to let the biggest supermoon in 70 years go by without making some photos, were you? Good, then let’s get together at Runyon Canyon for a supermoonrise photoshoot! We’ll meet at the front gate of the Mulholland entrance at 4pm sharp. From there, we can walk down among the many viewpoints overlooking the city to find the perfect one for capturing the sunset and moonrise. Sunset happens at 4:49 and the moon comes up through deep twilight about 40 minutes later. It should be a great scene for making pictures.
Besides your camera, I suggest a tripod and telephoto lens if you have them. Also, a headlamp can be pretty handy and don’t forget to check the weather, it might actually be chilly.
I’ll have some tips on photographing the moon and be around to answer any questions. Don’t be shy about asking your fellow group members questions either. Finally, if you can’t make it, I encourage you to make some moonrise photos wherever you are and post them to the photos page for this event.
