We collect the information we need to run a photography workshop and to stay in touch with you. We never sell it. We never share it with anyone except the companies that help us take payments, send email and understand how our website is used. You can ask to see it or have it deleted at any time.

When you register for a workshop: your name, mailing address, email, phone number, an emergency contact, your lodging and travel choices, your photography and fitness experience, and anything you tell us that affects your participation. For international workshops we also collect passport details, because our partners need them for permits and bookings.

When you pay a deposit: your card is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

When you send an inquiry, ask about private instruction, tell us you are interested in a future trip, leave feedback or use the contact form: your name, email and whatever you write to us.

When you join our newsletter: your email address, kept by Mailchimp.

When you visit the site: the usual technical information every website receives — the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and roughly where you are. We use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel for this. It is not tied to your name.

To run the workshop you registered for: booking lodging, arranging guides and permits, keeping you informed before the trip and reaching your emergency contact if we ever need to.

To answer your questions and follow up on your interest in a trip.

To send you our newsletter, if you signed up for it. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.

To understand which pages and which advertising bring people to us, so we spend our marketing money sensibly.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

We do share it with the companies that do a job for us, and only what they need for that job: Stripe (payments), Mailchimp (newsletter), Google and Meta (website measurement and advertising), Calendly (scheduling a call), WP Engine (hosting), and the lodges, guides and expedition operators who run each workshop with us. Each of them handles your information under their own privacy policy.

We will disclose information if the law requires it.

Our website uses cookies for Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and the Meta Pixel. They tell us how the site is used and let us show our workshops to people who have visited. They do not identify you by name.

You can block cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Meta advertising in your Facebook settings and of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on. The site works either way.

We take photographs during workshops and may use them to promote Art of Seeing. If you would rather not appear, tell the workshop leader at the start of your trip. Our Terms & Conditions say more.

Registration and payment records are kept for as long as we need them for tax and accounting, which is generally seven years. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Inquiries and messages are kept while we are talking with you and for a reasonable time afterwards.

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email ken@artofseeing.com and we will do it. If you are a California resident you have these rights under California law; we extend them to everyone.

Our workshops and our website are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
