Mention Ladakh to any Indian and you’re likely to hear the expression, "Heaven on Earth." That’s because they don't make mountains any bigger or wilder than the Himalaya. This is the land of the Ibex and the Snow Leopard, of ancient mountain monasteries, of faces so weathered by sun and wind that it’s impossible to know their ages. Our planned stops are worthy destinations, but many of the best photo opportunities are found on the road, so we allow time for multiple stops as we travel.
